2010 BIG V LUNCH
A crowd of over two hundred at the Big V Lunch saw four more great servants of representative football join the pantheon of Big V champions.
They were:
- Ian Turnbull, MHSOB champ, All-Australian and ’62 Woodrow Medallist
- Norm Beattie, Coburg’s All-Australian and ’69, ’70 Woodrow winner
- Brett Connell, Ormond All-Australian
- Ian Galbraith, Uni Blacks’ pre-war champion, Big V captain and Best and Fairest in the ’36 Carnival.

The Big V also provides a link to tradition between past and present representative teams.
All who have worn the most famous jumper in football (designed by the VAFA for its first interstate clash in 1925), and those who have served those teams as coaches and officials are automatically members of this exclusive club.
Each year at the Big V Lunch, the true greats are recognised, with a number of our most decorated representative players elevated to the status of “Champion” or in some cases, “Legend”.
At the 2009 function, there were five Champions added to the list:
Phil McLaughlin (Old Paradians): 9 Times Big V Rep between 1950 and 1955. Captain ’54-’55, All-Australian ‘54
Leigh Grant (Power House): 8 times Big V Rep between 1956 and 1959. Olympic Games ’56, Captain ‘59, All-Australian ‘58
Ken Jorgenson (Commonwealth Bank, Umpire): 6 Times Big V Rep between 1962 and 1965. Umpired 1973 Carnival.
